Welcome back to school! We're so excited to welcome students back on the first day of the 2026-2027 school year. It may have been a rainy start to the day, but we saw so many smiles from staff and students.

Carroll County Schools is excited to start the school year on a positive note. We want to remind our families about the importance of students wearing and using their student ID badges each day.

Student badges are an important part of our district’s commitment to safety, security, and efficiency. They help us:

• Quickly identify students
• Improve safety and accountability on our school buses
• Accurately identify students entering and exiting buses
• Support a safe and secure school environment
• Help our daily routines run smoothly and efficiently

We appreciate our students and families making it a habit to bring and use their badge every day.

Need a badge? No problem! If your student has lost or misplaced their badge, please contact their school for a replacement badge at no cost.

Thank you for partnering with Carroll County Schools as we work together to keep our students safe, secure, and ready for a great school year!

Carroll County Schools staff showed up for today’s Opening Day Experience ready to bring the Panther Pride!

The traditional first day of school for approximately 300 staff members was filled with fun, laughter, singing, dancing and, of course, a little food and flavored lemonade along the way. It was a chance to celebrate the people who make Carroll County Schools such a special place and get everyone energized for the year ahead.

The Opening Day Experience was planned and executed by an incredible team. There are far too many people to name, but we want to say thank you to everyone who helped make today happen. Your time, creativity and hard work made this a memorable start to the school year.

The 2026-2027 school year is officially underway, and we are off to a great start! We are One District. One Family. One Panther.🖤💛

(More photos from today’s Opening Day Experience can be found on the District Facebook page. Many of today's photos are courtesy of CCHS students Keeley Stucker and Emily Laib. Several staff members also contributed.)

The wonderful staff at the Carroll County Youth Services Center and Family Ties Service Center are available to help families throughout the summer, not just during the school year.

The Youth Services Center, which is located at Carroll County High School, can assist with in-school and community resources. “We can get families signed up for our in-school resources, such as Backpack Buddies, and if families are in need of emergency assistance, we can help them get connected with those community resources for food, clothing, finances, transportation, family resources, etc.,” said YSC Coordinator Sydney Ball. The center also offers assistance with college and career applications.

The Family Ties Service Center, which has an office at Cartmell and Kathryn Winn, is also staffed during the summer from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. “We can help with signing families up for services or, if they need help finding services in our community, we can direct them or contact services for them,” said Family Ties Coordinator Aayme Kindoll. She is also able to help with emergency food assistance and signing children up for school.

Ball, Kindoll, CCMS Youth Services Coordinator Sharonia Barr and Amanda New, Director of Federal Programs and Families in Transition Coordinator, are pictured collecting items students identified they would need during the summer.

“The FRYSC team surveyed our students and a lot said they needed basics like underwear, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste,” New said. The team filled backpacks that were handed out before the school year ended. Students received food packs, shampoo, a blanket, educational books, toothpaste, toothbrush, soaps and washrags.

New said Title 1 money, which is specified for very unique purposes, was used for the project. She learned about the idea at a conference she attended last school year and hopes to continue it throughout the future. “We’re trying to keep the family in mind and I would like to keep building on this,” she added.

Donations can be made by contacting New at amanda.new@carroll.kyschools.us or calling 502-662-0590.

Happy 4th of July to our Panther friends and families!

Happy 4th of July
The Carroll County Board of Education voted to name Dr. Ron Livingood as Interim Superintendent of Carroll County Schools at a special meeting this evening. He will serve in the position while the board begins a search to replace former Superintendent Casey Jaynes, who resigned recently with the intent to retire effective June 30.
Livingood has worked with Carroll County Schools on multiple occasions from 2017 through 2019, including as interim superintendent and interim principal of CCHS and the Carroll County ATC.
“I adopted a whole new family down here,” Livingood said. "I think I’ve always gotten a bigger blessing being in Carroll County than any good I may have done.” Livingood, who retired as Grant County Schools superintendent in 2016, said he isn’t typically looking for a job, but “if the Lord sends an assignment my way I always try and do my best to help in a situation that a little bit of help might be needed.”
He will meet with the board at its June 25 meeting. Livingood said he wants to hear the board’s priorities and determine what they need from him. “I need to sit down and listen to the board and determine what needs they perceive. They’re the community so I’ll get a feel from them on what are some important things to do,” he added.
“I think the people in Carroll County are really good. I owe them my best effort until things get rolling and they’re able to get everybody in place for that district to run smoothly and the kids to get the greatest benefit,” Livingood said.
